Sport climbing - Luzzone Dam

Description

At 160 meters high (valley side), Luzzone Dam is famous in sport climbing for being the highest artificial wall in the world.

It is accessible from May to October and equipped with more than 600 resin holds, divided into 5 pitches (5b, 5c, 6a, 6a+, 6a+) and protected by bolts.

The frequent exposure to sun and weather and, the non-trivial arrangement of holds, makes it suitable for climbing mainly for experienced climbers who know and can practice progression and belaying technique to perfection.

The artificial climbing route can only be climbed from the bottom up and by roped parties of a maximum of three adults.

The essential equipment must include: harness, climbing footwear, helmet recommended, two 50 m ropes, 14 quickdraws, belaying equipment, descender, lanyards, slings, mobile phone.
