Swiss hiking night, 240 milioni di anni in una notte

Duration

People usually spend 4 hours here.

Description

On the occasion of Swiss Hiking Night, we invite you to enjoy a special experience on Monte San Giorgio, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We'll depart at sunset from the Meride Fossil Museum for an excursion combining nature, science, and history. The route will lead us to Spinirolo and the Acqua del Ghiffo excavation site, iconic sites of the paleontological research that has made Monte San Giorgio famous worldwide.

Walking through the woods, accompanied by stories and explanations, we'll discover how marine reptiles swam here 240 million years ago in an ancient tropical sea. A journey through time immersed in the silence and unique atmosphere of the mountain at dusk.

The experience will conclude with a guided tour of the Monte San Giorgio Fossil Museum, to observe up close the artifacts that tell this extraordinary story. A night filled with discoveries, nature, and evocative moments in the mountains.
