A Day in the Music Village of Sobrio (Leventina)
Description
The Music Village is located in the beautiful village of Sobrio (in the Leventina Valley) and consists of approximately 50 houses, all dedicated to an important musician.
The heart of the village is the Gustav Mahler House, where masterclasses, study weeks, competitions, piano lectures, and chamber music concerts take place. The Francis Poulenc House, on the other hand, is used to accommodate students, faculty members, and guest musicians. The owners of the other houses contribute in various ways to the promotion and organization of the different activities.
This is not just a center for courses and concerts but the creation of an authentic village, with residences for musicians and music lovers, a home for senior artists, the Hotel Symphony (opening in spring 2025), a recording studio, a concert hall (designed by Mario Botta), accommodations for visitors, and infrastructure for special sports and leisure activities.
From late June to mid-October, the Sobrio Festival takes place in the Church of San Lorenzo and in the hall of Casa Mahler. Alongside renowned artists, exceptionally talented young musicians also perform. During the same period, the Sobrio Festival Academy organizes masterclasses in Casa Mahler with internationally renowned artists, including members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Reserved seat in the GOLD sector for the concert at 6:00 PM in the church (or at 11:00 AM in Casa Mahler). Admission is a voluntary donation in support of the Music Village and scholarships for exceptionally gifted young musicians.

A self-guided tour of the Music Village before the concert by following the signs and information boards.
