Described as the most important event in photojournalism by The New York Times, the itinerant World Press Photo Exhibition stops in more than 120 cities in 50 countries around the world every year and is visited by 4 million people. With about 140 photographs on display, the exhibition is the product of one of the most important photojournalism contests, which has recognised the best professional press, photojournalist and documentary photographers since 1955. Reflecting the contest's inherent international character, the 66th World Press Photo Exhibition captures the countless facets of the world in which we live, stimulating its visitors to reflect on contemporary reality.
