Airolo Pesciüm
Description
At the gates of southern Switzerland, just where people exit the Gotthard tunnel by car or train, there is one of the most underestimated alpine recreation and sports areas of Switzerland.
Pesciüm is a vast natural panoramic terrace that overlooks the village of Airolo. Thanks to the large cable car, visitors are catapulted in just 5 minutes into a magnificent alpine panorama, easily accessible and offering breathtaking views of the Gotthard, the Bedretto Valley and the Leventina.
In summer, Pesciüm is the starting point for many hikes and is becoming increasingly popular as a destination for bikers and cyclists looking for fun or even an adrenaline rush: in only 60 minutes from Lugano, professional and amateur sportsmen and women, trekking enthusiasts, and mountain lovers will find everything they are looking for, in a single station.
Continue your journey by cable car to the 2,065-meter-high Sasso della Boggia. Here you can experience the new panoramic swing and enjoy the view of the Gotthard massif! Built in collaboration with Swing the World and the Regional Tourism Organization, the swing can be used both in summer and winter.
The Airolo Bike Park, with its breathtaking trails, fun bumps and parabolics, is a true paradise for mountain bikers! The only Bike Park in Ticino offers tracks suitable for both adrenaline lovers, and for those who are just starting out with the descents between obstacles and roots, allowing everyone to find what they are looking for. Thanks to the installation of a charging station in Pesciüm, the area can also be easily visited by electric bike.
You can also enjoy the panorama from the terrace in Pesciüm and taste the delicacies of the mountain restaurant La Stüa, which was renovated at the end of 2019. The cuisine offers local products processed in a simple and carefully prepared way, so that you can perceive the flavours of traditional mountain cuisine. At the end of the day you can finally relax at the bar La Chièuna, a meeting point for sportsmen and not of the upper Leventina, which will wait for you for a fun Après-Bike with music in the background.
